Languages - Italian
Language learning at St Joseph’s is an integral part of the school’s approach to literacy. A comprehensive languages program is offered to all students from Reception to Year 7 which aims to develop language proficiency and awareness and intercultural understanding.
All students receive two Italian language lessons per week. They can also participate in an exclusive Italian Language Extension Program in which students receive an extra Italian language lesson per week.
The Italian program involves a holistic approach. Guided and shared reading, functional grammar, genre learning and the use of information communication technologies are used to deliver and enhance the program. This helps develops the student’s communication skills through reading, writing, listening and speaking.
