Earth Hour is a worldwide movement for the planet organised by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The event is held annually to encourage individuals, communities, households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour, from 8:30 to 9:30 pm. This year, people across the globe switched off last Saturday 30th March.
This year, our school joined hundreds of schools across Australia to support stronger climate change action on Earth Hour Schools Day last Friday 29 March.
The Green Crew spread posters around the classes and reminded each class to switch off any unnecessary power in the classroom for an hour on Friday. There was even a YouTube clip that all the students watched to explain how we can better take care of our planet.
We thank all the teachers, staff and students who joined in to spread the message about reducing global warming.
