Early Learning Programs
Through each stage of the St Joseph’s Hectorville Early Learning Program, we help inspire our littlest ones into a life of curiosity. This early exposure to the school environment, can also support any fears parents may have in ensuring a smooth transition into school, and all the way through to Year 6 graduation.
Preschool
Preschool is the perfect introduction to school life for your 4-year-old, and an integral part of early learning.
Our Preschool program is focussed on the child learning through play as they develop their literacy and numeracy skills.
Preschool is available Monday to Friday (during the school term) with each child eligible for 15 hours per week. Equivalent to the 15 hours is the choice of one of two group options:
- PS Group 1 option:
Mon, Tues 8:30am – 3pm & Wed 8:30am – 10:30am - PS Group 2 option:
Wed 1pm – 3pm & Thurs & Fri 8:30am – 3pm.
Our Preschool is a vibrant and dynamic place, where strong relationships are formed between educators, children and parents, acting as an excellent way to build confidence, capability and belonging in the school environment.
“We are really impressed. It’s been great seeing how instantly comfortable our child feels and most importantly that she is happy especially with all the learning and activities she does every day.” – Preschool family
In the St Joseph’s Hectorville preschool setting, we believe that children are capable of learning individually and with others through various means. We use the Belonging, Being and Becoming Curriculum to guide this teaching.
Beginning school for our littlest learners can be daunting, but the beauty of starting their journey with our preschool ensures they have the advantage of feeling confident, safe and secure in their surroundings and the people within it.
An added bonus is that our preschool offers a mid-year intake for children who turn 4 years old from 1 May through to 31 October. This supports a family’s opportunity to ensure their child can enter the school environment and gain authentic learning experiences as soon as they are old enough.
