Kids dressed in different languages

Italian language

All students from reception to year six participate in Italian lessons. We believe that learning a language from a young age, assists in having greater cognitive skills, problem solving and critical thinking. It helps enhance memory and improves multi-tasking abilities – all of which contribute to better learning outcomes, and employment opportunities for our students’ future.

The focus of our Italian language program is on both language and culture and is taught in accordance with the Australian Curriculum. Learning a language gives students a deeper understanding and awareness of other cultures and often sparks an interest in learning multiple languages.

At St Joseph’s Hectorville we participate in the ELLA program. A digital play-based learning program that includes a series of Apps that make learning a language interesting and engaging for children in preschool and the early primary years.
